ROSS-ON-WYE RURAL POLICE BULLETIN
(23/01/12)
Time for change
As you are probably all aware the Police are undergoing many changes due to financial constraints. We will do our best to keep things flowing as smoothly as possible. Liz TRUSCOTT our Admin Clerk at Ross Police Station has unfortunately been made redundant. I have relied on Liz for many years to complete our weekly crime bulletin and she has done an amazing job for us.
The bulletin will continue as often as possible. There may be slight changes as there will probably be more than one of us having input and doing the updates to it.
Please bear with us. We are open for suggestions on how to improve but will have to learn as we go along. I hope you don’t all find the transition too painful.
Moving on to better things
Our very own CSO Paul LEIGHTON is due to retire at the end of March. He has been with us for a number of years and has proved to be an invaluable member of the Ross Rural Local Policing Team. We will all miss him and wish him the best of luck for the future.
Safety messages
We have recently had very cold weather and would like you to take note of the following very important information:-
· We are reminding motorists to ensure their car windscreens are thoroughly de-iced before starting out on their journey. It is an offence not do so and you could receive a fixed penalty notice if you are caught. Please do not take the risk of leaving your car running outside your house to warm your engine then leave the vehicle unattended. Even a couple of minutes would be enough for the opportunist thief to drive your vehicle away!
· We have received one report so far in this current cold snap of young people messing around on and near frozen water. This is obviously extremely dangerous. The young people concerned were located and given a good talking too. Please stress the danger to the young people in your families.
Current crime trends in the area
Thefts of scrap metal are a problem across the country in general. Everyone is asked to be vigilant and to call in any suspicious activity. If you are able take registration numbers of any vehicles that you see and then pass them on to us.
We are also experiencing thefts of heating fuel again across our area. Please keep an eye on the levels that you have in your tank so that it is easier to identify if you have had any stolen and when.

Church Cleaning Rota
We are particularly keen for new people to come onto the church cleaning rota. The more people we have, the less often you are called upon to clean. It does not take too long to do the weekly sweep and polish and it is fun if you can find a friend to do it with. If you are willing to volunteer please contact a PCC member. You can also ring Olivia Boon on 780321
